When hotels are places where people and the local community connect and thrive together.

In March 2025, Rosewood Hotels & Resorts officially received sustainable development certification from the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). This certification applies to 47 hotels under the group’s three brands: Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, New World Hotels & Resorts, and Carlyle & Co.

Leading this journey is Ms. Mehvesh Mumtaz Ahmed – Vice President of Social Impact & Sustainable Development of the Group. “We aim to build an ecosystem where hotels become a platform where people and local communities can create value and develop,” she shared.

At the Vietnam ESG Investor Conference 2025, organized by Raise Partners and Vietnam Innovators Digest, Ms. Mehvesh Mumtaz Ahmed and Mr. Niklas Wagner – General Manager of New World Saigon Hotel – discussed how ESG principles are implemented at the corporate level and the journey of realizing those commitments locally, right here at New World Saigon.

What is Rosewood Group’s ESG and sustainability strategy?

Ms. Mehvesh Mumtaz Ahmed: Rosewood’s goal goes beyond the concept of ESG or sustainability—we aim to be a business that creates a positive impact on society. And sustainability is key to achieving that goal.

That spirit is reflected in how we recruit, select suppliers, collaborate with local partners, and deeply connect with the culture and communities where we operate. Through this, we forge meaningful connections, whether through experiences, employment, livelihoods, or the preservation of local values—all of which come back to our mission of sustainable development.

These efforts toward sustainable development are embodied in Rosewood’s seven commitments, including: creating local livelihoods, reducing landfill waste by 70%, reducing electricity and water consumption by 25% by the end of 2025, and achieving Net Zero by 2050.
